thenewwoman: (A curious soul)
So, yep, aside from the main book, my Mina draws on several sources:
  1. First is the 2020 adaptation, first episode mostly. Because the potential was amazing and I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I would loooove to play against a Sister Agatha. Plus I definitely wanted to improve on the treatment of Mina (NOT THE STRONGEST POINT OF THIS SHOW JUST SAYING), and having her survive Dracula's attack on the convent???? YES. Having her wanting revenge for what Dracula did to her sweet sweet Jonny????? ALSO YES.
  2. And off we get to the second source: the 1979 movie. In there, the Mina role goes to Lucy, but what I liked is that they have her related to Van Helsing. So, my idea here is that: 1. Both Van Helsings (Agatha and Abraham), exist in my Mina's continuity, and 2. she is a niece to both of  them, being the daughter of another sister, Anna Murray (Née Van Helsing), and her husband, an irishman named John (Séan) Murray.  She keeps a good rapport with both her uncle and her aunt (who is the first to tell her about Jonathan), and is also proficient in Dutch. (Because I like my characters multilingual ok?)
  3. Third one being the reason Dracula let her live is partially based on the 1992 Coppola movie: She is the reincarnation of his wife, BUT SHE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO WAS REINCARNATED. She has a hunch that Jonathan also had a link to Dracula's past, and that is why Dracula was so obsessed with him. (And he probably wasn't the only one)
